Revision of an existing translation by comparing the target text with the source text while correcting grammar, spelling, editing the style, if necessary, and adhering to existing terminology.

MTPE stands for machine translation + post-editing. This means revising a translation which was performed by a machine and thus has often a lower quality. Google Translator is an example for a machine translation.
